Notable Items for the Council Meeting on 2/24

The second February Common Council public meeting begins at 7:30pm this Tuesday, February 24th in the third floor City Courtroom. I’ll highlight some resolutions below, but if you want more detail, be sure to delve into the wonderfully organized agenda.

• The Council will discuss and potentially approve two mobile food and drink permits:

  • The Fizzy Pup, owned by Jamie Monroe

  • High Peaks Distilling, owned by Thomas Pittman

• The Council will discuss and potentially approve an amended contract with CPL Architecture to ensure the third floor City Courtroom renovations are completely finished and satisfactory. While the new bill totals $78,000, it is entirely reimbursable by the New York Unified Court System annual contract with Glens Falls.

• The Council will discuss and potentially approve EMS Training funding from the New York Department of Health Bureau of EMS to support training needs of the Fire Department, totaling $7,834.79

• The Council will discuss and potentially approve a license agreement with Stephen Stedman’s small, landlocked parcel near Butler Pond, and Glens Falls. The undeveloped property owned by Glens Falls encompasses a history of established woods roads, logging trails, and log landing areas. The agreement allows Stephen Stedman to sell the land to Michael and Theresa Nead to enjoy the small, landlocked property for recreational purposes. • The Council will discuss and potentially approve the agreement between Warren County, the City of Glens Falls, and the Police Department to implement projects and services with $175,000 from a grant relating to the OPOID Settlement. One of the pilot projects is the LEAD Program, or Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion. For more details, the agreement is on page 115-143 of the agenda.

• The Council will discuss and potentially approve the appoint of Wendy Baird as City Controller and Dainah Cornell as Mayor’s Office Coordinator due to the recent departures of Mark Powers and Chip McTiernan, respectively.

• The Council will discuss and potentially approve the 2026 Glens Falls Cemetery Annual Report, organized by Wayne Wright, City Historian, and Michele Hatin. Be sure to browse the 45 biographical stories available on the city website about some of the deceased. For more details, the annual report is on page 73-79.
