New York Primary Day!
Today is Primary Day in New York, and for Glens Falls, there are two key races to cast your ballot: New York District 21 Congressman and New York State Comptroller. There have been debates, discussions, and endorsements with all the candidates over the past two months, and I would like to provide a summary of each candidate, provided by Ballotpedia, a non-profit website to help voters. Before heading to your polling location, be sure to read more about each candidate to make an informed decision.
For those in Glens Falls Ward 5, the polling location is Village Green Apartments located at 1 S Delaware Avenue. But be sure to visit Vote411.org, sponsored by the League of Women Voters, to know where other polling locations are based on your address. All locations will be open until 9pm, so make sure to get out and vote!
Republican New York District 21 Congressman Candidates:
Robert Smullen is a retired Marine Corps colonel, serving 24 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and completing three combat tours in Afghanistan. He is currently a member of the New York State Assembly representing District 118.
Anthony Constantino is a business owner and political figure. He is known as a co-founder and CEO of Sticker Mule, a global printing and tech company based in Amsterdam, New York. Constantino is heavily funding his campaign and identifies as a "MAGA Republican".
Democrat New York District 21 Congressman Candidates:
Blake Gendebien is described as a second-generation dairy farmer, small business owner, and community leader from Lisbon, New York. He has campaigned as a candidate capable of bridging partisan divides in the district, describing himself as a pragmatic centrist.
Stuart Amoriell is a small business owner, restaurateur, and community advocate, grew up in Tupper Lake, New York. He positions himself as a grassroots progressive.
Democrat New York Comptroller Candidates:
Raj Goyle is an entrepreneur, former civil rights attorney, and political figure. He previously served as a Democratic member of the Kansas House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011 before relocating to New York.
Thomas P. DiNapoli is currently serving as the New York State Comptroller, a role he has held since his initial appointment in 2007. He is campaigning on his extensive tenure, financial stability, and scandal-free record.
Drew Warshaw is a former affordable housing executive and public official. He positions himself as an activist reformer aiming to utilize the state's massive pension fund to address New York's affordability crisis.
