Notable Items for the Council Meeting on 1/27

On the Tuesday after the expected snowstorm, the Common Council will meet at 7:30pm in the third floor City Hall Courtroom. On Friday evening, I collected the agenda packet from Steve Thurston, marveling at its hefty size of 178 pages. There are lots of items for approval and discussion, from mobile food licenses, encroachment permits, an agreement between Glens Falls and the Warren County Economic Development Corporation, and nominations for the Glens Falls Business Improvement District.

I’ll highlight some resolutions, but if you want more detail, be sure to delve into the wonderfully organized agenda:

• The Council will discuss and potentially approve five mobile food licenses:

  • Ghost Light Farm, owned by Jim Bill Morrow

  • Muddy Trail Jerky Company, owned by Rene Lussier

  • Our Daily Bread, owned by David Rhee

  • Fresh Take Farm, owned by Skyler Liebig

  • A & S Spice on Wheels, owned by Shafeeza Shaw

• The Council will discuss and potentially approve an encroachment permit by Funky Solutions in regard to work being done on the second floor of 18-22 Ridge Street until April 30th, 2026. In the agenda, you can read the emails between Funky Solutions, Building and Codes, and Emily Neal as they discuss and establish safety plans, starting on page 161.

• The Council will discuss and potentially approve an agreement between Glens Falls and the Warren County Economic Development Corporation. The agreement, included on page 175 of the agenda, lists the scope of services that the EDC will engage with this year, like developing a strategy for Tech Meadows Business Park, support the city with DRI efforts, serve as the resource for High-Speed Broadband expansion, and a host of other responsibilities and duties.

• The Council will discuss and potentially approve an encroachment permit by Bonacio Construction to extend closure of Elm Street during the construction of 31 South Street through June 1, 2026. Mayor Palmer notes that Bonacio representatives plan to attend the Common Council meeting to answer any questions from the council.

• A resolution authorizing a one-time stipend in recognition of the extraordinary responsibilities by Carrie Lambert for her valuable contributions, dedication, and exemplary service as head of Purchasing for Glens Falls and training office personnel at the Department for Public Works.
