Notable Items for the Council Meeting on 3/24

Spring has begun, though the weather outside remains chilly. After a busy weekend in downtown Glens Falls, we will have the second March Common Council public meeting in the third floor City Courtroom on March 24th at 7:30pm. I’ll highlight some resolutions below, but if you want more detail, be sure to delve into the wonderfully organized agenda on the city website.

• The Council will discuss and potentially approve five mobile food and drink permits:

  • U-Turn Food Trailer, owned by Scott Keith

  • Freddy’s Rockin’ Lemonade, owned by Michael Copeland

  • Say Grace Cakes, owned by Shawnah Straub

  • Grandma Apples Cheesecakes, owned by Constance Capasso

  • Argyle Cheese Factory, owned by Marjorie Randles

• The Council will discuss and potentially create a public hearing in regard to changes to parking limits on city streets. To read more about the proposed changes, please visit the agenda on page 130-135. If approved, the public hearing will take place on April 14th, 2026, at 7:25pm. Be sure to reach out beforehand with any questions or concerns if you are unable to attend.

• The Council will discuss and potentially approve an increase in cemetery lot fees that were recently approved by the Cemetery Commission. To read about the newly proposed fee structure, please visit the agenda on page 139.

• The Council will discuss and potentially approve a contract for annual roof maintenance for City Hall, the Department of Public Works building, and the Harding Mazzotti Arena, with the work done by Titan Roofing, Inc.

• The Council will discuss and potentially approve a resolution to create a new position of office specialist at the Department of Public Works and install Yvonne Catallo in the position.

• The Council will discuss and potentially approve UHY, an external audit company, to perform financial and operational review services for $98,495. It was recently approved by the Audit and Finance Committee.

• The Council will discuss and potentially approve the creation of a Capital Project and Budget known as “Elm Street Streetscaping” to begin the completion of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative. Of the $300,000 budget, it will be paid for with Community Development and Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS) funds. • The Council will discuss and potentially accept the settlement agreement between Union Square Properties LLC v. Assessor of the City of Glens Falls, the Board of Assessment Review of the City of Glens Falls and the City of Glens Falls, New York regarding a Real Property Tax Law Article 7 proceeding. From the findings, listed on page 161 of the agenda, the city will issue a refund of $23,000 to Union Square Properties LLC from revised assessments for 2022-2024.
