Notable Items for Council Meeting on 9/8

September has arrived and the local schools are back in session for another year. Labor Day Weekend was full of local athletes competing in the Lake George Triathlon and Run 4 The River Half Marathon in Schenectady, as well as music festivals

The Common Council public meeting begins at 7:25pm on Tuesday, September 8th, 2026. Be sure to join on the third-floor City Courtroom for a whirlwind of thoughtful public hearings, interesting discussions, and some exciting resolutions. I’ll highlight some resolutions below, but if you want more detail, be sure to delve into the wonderfully organized agenda on the city website.

• The Council will hold a public hearing about a proposed change to the City Code regarding permitting farm stands on certain zoning districts. It will help spur small community farms throughout the city. For more information, please refer to the proposal.

• The Council will discuss and potentially approve a resolution to adopt a memorandum agreement between CSEA and the City of Glens Falls to allow union workers, aside from plow truck drivers, to receive compensatory time for the snow emergency issued on January 26th, 2026.

• The Council will discuss and potentially approve four lifeguard retention bonuses of $500 each to ensure lifeguard capacity next summer.

• The Council will discuss and potentially approve updated Emergency Medical Service rates from the Glens Falls Fire Department. For more information about the proposed changes with comparables, please view the chart on the agenda.

• The Council will discuss and potentially approve Glens Falls joining the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities free membership. For more information about what a membership offers, please view the factsheet in the agenda.

• The Council will discuss and potentially set a public hearing for September 22nd at 7:25pm for adjustments to timed parking spots in the city. For more information about the proposed changes, please view the redlined proposal on the agenda.

• The Council will discuss and potentially approve a letter of intent between Glens Falls and New York Renewable Energy Development Holdings Corporation to potentially develop a renewable energy generating project at 80 Luzerne Road. For more information, read the letter of intent in the agenda.

• The Council will discuss and potentially award a BID contract to W2 Operator Training Group LLC to repair and reinstall the Clearwell Pump at the Water Treatment Plant already budgeted by the Water and Sewer Commission. • The Council will discuss and potentially approve three mobile food permits:
