The 2026 City Budget Has Passed!
Notable Agenda Items at Common Council:
The FY-2026 City General Fund and the Sewer and Water Fund Budgets were approved after a public comment period.
Resolution passed to add Robert Curtis, Wayne Wright, and Debbie Pawson for the City of Glens Falls Ethics Committee.

Solar Panels on track to be installed on the Civic Center Roof

Buildings and Codes Committee (led by Diana Palmer):
Snow Removal Law discussion to ensure procedural elements with DPW and Buildings and Codes are in place. Bid will be put forth for local businesses to contract as snow removal for delinquent property owners, if needed. [City Code 189-33.1]
Encroachment Permit discussion to consolidate the responsibility from the City Clerk’s office to Buildings and Codes.

East End Rising Committee (attended by Dan Donohue):
Councilman Dan Donohue said that the first public meeting was very well attended, with the next meeting will be in January. No set date at this time.
Financial Disclosures of Budget Line Items:
The City of Glens Falls received $8,690 from USAA GIC for damage inflicted on the Exchange Street Businesses sign on 7/1/2025.
The City of Glens Falls received $2,900.77 from their Safety Insurance inflicted on the New Pruyn Street.
Resolution passed to transfer $1,044 from the City Parks Fund to the Garbage Fund due to increased yearly garbage pickup fees.
Resolution passed to use $30,000 from the Warren County Occupancy Tax to fund a new Music Festival at the Civic Center.
Resolution passed to use $5,000 from the Warren County Occupancy Tax to fund the 2025 Glens Falls Holiday Kickoff Party on December 6, 2025, from 1-5pm at the ED Center.
Resolution was tabled to transfer $45,596 from the Personnel Fund to the Motor Vehicle Equipment Fund in order to purchase a 2026 Dodge Durango to help transport Cadets and Firefighters to statewide trainings. Further discussions with the Firefighters are ongoing.
Resolution was tabled to transfer $7,100 from the Personnel Fund to the Forestry Fund to make up a shortfall difference. Councilperson Ben Lapham stated that there might be $5,000 not spent from other environmental funds to help fund the shortfall.

Councilperson Recognitions:
Councilperson Bob Landry introduced Angelica, owner of 518 Beauty Room, who spoke about a new health and wellness center in the works at 172 Ridge Street. The Council just passed a resolution for a Zoning Change, another step forward for the renovation of the historic Quaker Church.
