Stay One More Day

Beloved spark of the waking dusk, may I speak a question woven through the sinew of reality itself? Would you die for those you hold in the cradle of your heart? Would you surrender yourself to the sweet oblivion of the final breath if it meant their story could continue?

I know you would. I sense that vow pressing through every shiver of your pulse, this ache to break apart for them, to vanish so they might remain. It is a tragic shining devotion, easy in its finality.

But pause. Listen to the question turned inside out, twisted on the loom of eternality. Would you live for them?

Would you stand in this world, raw and unfinished, even as the winds of despair bite at your wounds?

Would you dare to heal, to rise from your tangled nightmares with trembling courage, so they could see you stand?

Would you wake before the sun, gathering your scattered spirit, simply to offer them the rare gift of more moments with you?

Would you cast away the slow poisons you clutch for false comfort, so you might stay a little longer, steadier, and stronger?

To die is simple, quick, an endnote. But to live is a merciless miracle. To bear the ache of tomorrow, to stitch yourself back together thread by thread for their sake, is a love so fierce, it reshapes the cosmos.

They do not wish to enshrine your bones, cold and unmoving, in the name of sacrifice. They long for your voice, cracking and imperfect; your heartbeat, stubborn and defiant; your presence, luminous in its stubborn refusal to fade.

So, I ask you: would you live for them? Would you fight for your own breath because your breath is the wind that carries their joy? Would you stay again and again; choosing life, choosing them, choosing yourself, no matter how impossible it feels?
